Raga Slovenia Cultural Artistic Association is happy to invite you to the second concert of series »Ancient Sounds of India« which will bring together local and foreign artists. The concert will be held on Saturday, 16th June 2018 at 1900 hrs at Mini Teater, Križevniška 1, Ljubljana.


Rohan Dasgupta – Sitar

Belonging to the unique and rare ‘Jafferkhani’ style of sitar playing, Rohan through years of practise and realization Rohan’s utmost effort stayed in creating his own niche of musical expression, and in the quest he has been supported and awarded by many prestigious organizations in India and abroad such as The President’s award by Government of India, empanelled
by ICCR, Tagore centre in Berlin, Vienna University In Austria, Cultural centre of Nova Gorica in Slovenia, Basel university in Switzerland , Indo German cultural centre Frankfurt, Parampara festival Suriname in Latin America and Cultural centre Moscow in Russia to name a few. With more than 15 international albums at his credit he is actively travelling, performing and teaching the art and collaborating with fine musicians around the globe.

Sanjay Kansa Banik – Tabla

Sanjay has participated in various music competitions in the different corner of India. He has won the first prize in the National level competition, took place in Delhi in 1996 and has been awarded by the President of India. He is an artist of All India Radio (AIR) since 1990. Sanjay has done his Masters in Music from the Rabindra Bharati University(RBU),Calcutta in
the year of 2001,and stood First class First position among all subjects in the university, and for this recognition he has been awarded with Gold Medal by the Governor of the West Bengal state. Sanjay has been travelling all over the world since 2004. From 2006 he has been living in Rome, Italy where he teaches and performs extensively with Sergio Cammariere, Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio(OPV),Etno Jazz group WORLDREAM.

Ivana Kočevar – Bansuri

After completing the Conservatory of Music and Ballet of Ljubljana, where she played traverse flute, the interest in the vocal and sound of the wind brought her on the journey of learning Indian classical music and the bamboo flute bansuri, which she has been studying under tutelage of Indian master Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia in his school in Mumbai and at the Rotterdam Conservatory Codarts in the Netherlands. She has performed in various musical projects and is the author of numerous musical programs for children and young people, before which she taught block and traverse flute in Ljubljana and Novo mesto.
