AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) systems are being practiced in the Indian subcontinent for thousands of years and are time tested for their efficacy and safety. In its endeavor to create awareness about the benefits of the systems, the Government of India has set up an AYUSH Information Centre at the premises of the Indian Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia to provide authentic information on AYUSH systems of medicine. There is increasing trend of usage of traditional and complementary medicines to supplement existing allopathic healthcare. Today the world is facing a diverse spectrum of health problems which include intractable lifestyle diseases inflicting younger people and geriatric health conditions in old age. To deal effectively with the persistent and emerging health challenges, the potential of the traditional medicine systems like Ayurveda, Yoga and Homoeopathy for health promotion, prevention and holistic management of infectious and non-communicable diseases, can be a viable alternative.

AYURVEDA
Ayurveda is the science of life which originated from the Vedas (5000 BC). It aims at the holistic management of health and diseases. Ayurvedic medicines act in accordance with the concepts of Tridosha (Vata, Pitta and Kapha) to achieve the goal of perfect health, physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing.

YOGA & NATUROPATHY

Yoga is the art of healthy living which focuses on the achievement of harmony between body and mind.

Naturopathy is a drugless non-invasive system of therapy involving the use of natural materials in its treatment based on the theory of vitality, the theory of toxemia, the theory of self-heating capacity of the body & the Principles of Healthy Living.

UNANI
Unani system of medicine is based on the humoral theory put forward by Hippocrates which presupposes the presence of four humors Dam (blood), Balgham (Phelgm), Safra (Yellow bile) and Sauda (Black bile) in the body.

SIDDHA
System is a proven science of health like Ayurveda prevalent in the southern part of India, predominantly using minerals and metals. Eighteen Siddha (Saintly Scholars) are believed to have contributed towards the development of this system.

HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy is a system of medicine which works on the simple principle expressed by the maxim “Similia Similibus Curentur”- let likes be treated by likes. This system of medicine was discovered and developed by the German Physician. Dr. Christian Fredrieck Samuel Hahnemann and is now widely practiced in India.
