Janjatiya Gaurav Divas

The Government of India designated November 15th as Janjatiya Gaurav Divas in 2021 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the renowned tribal freedom fighter Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

In addition to acknowledging the lasting legacy of tribal communities in the cultural, spiritual, and social life of the country, this momentous step was taken to honour and celebrate the extraordinary contributions made by tribal heroes during India's freedom struggle.

Since then, the celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas has developed into a potent national movement that serves as a reminder of the fortitude, tenacity, and cultural diversity of India's tribal people.

Building on this momentum and commemorating Bhagwan Birsa Munda's 150th birthday, the government has introduced Jan Jatiya Gaurav Varsh (JJGV), a year-long celebration of tribal pride, identity, and advancement that will run from 15 November 2024, to 15 November 2025.
