ICCR Scholarship Scheme for Dance & Music

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) offers scholarships to Slovenian students wishing to learn Indian dance and music under the Guru-Shishya Parampara (A tradition of spiritual relationship and mentoring where teachings are transmitted from a Guru (Teacher) to a Shishya (disciple).

Facilities are available to learn all types of classical and traditional forms of dance and music. This particular scheme is open to students without any requirement of age or specific qualifications. The scheme serves students from all backgrounds ranging from fresher to practicing artists in the respective arts forms.

100 global slots are available under ICCR Scholarship Scheme for Music & Dance for the Academic Year 2020-21. The final date for applications is 29 February 2020 but please make sure to contact the Embassy at least one month in advance. Prospective applicants should be 18 years of age at the time of admission in Indian Universities/Institutes and no more than 30 years of age.

The Slovenian students interested in these studies can apply for this scheme through ICCR's Admission-to-Alumni portal (http://a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in). The list of empaneled institutes offering dance/music courses under Guru-Shishya Parampara is also available at this portal.

General Scholarships Scheme—GSS 

The General Scholarship Scheme (GSS) is one of the most important and popular schemes of the ICCR for foreign students. Scholarships are awarded under this scheme annually to international students belonging to certain Asian, African, European and Latin American countries for the undergraduate, postgraduate degrees and for pursuing research at Indian universities. 

However, scholarships for medical studies for MBBS, BDS or for medical research leading to a Ph.D degree are not offered under the GSS scheme.

Offer of ICCR Scholarship for the Academic Year 2020-21

ICCR has offered one scholarship to Slovenia under the GSS Scheme for the academic year 2020-21.  Applications are invited from Slovenian nationals wishing to pursue higher studies in Indian universities and higher educational institutions at under-graduate, post-graduate or a doctoral/post-doctoral level under ICCR General Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2020-21. 

This scholarships cover enrolment and course fees, besides grant of a fixed amount of living expenses, on quarterly basis, to the approved scholar/student. It is compulsory for all students accepted under the GSS Scheme stay inside the Hostel and no exception for family or health reasons will be made. The scholarships are granted for the full duration of the course. 

Beginning this year, the application process has been greatly simplified and made online. The eligible students need to apply at the ICCR scholarship portal - A2A (Admission to Alumni) Scholarship portal - http://a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in The newly developed portal contains all the relevant information for the applicants including details of all participating Universities, colleges affiliated with them, courses offered, availability of hostels, application guidelines, eligibility criteria and other relevant information for helping the applicants in decision-making while applying for the academic courses of their preference. 

Eligible students wishing to submit their applications are advised to carefully go through the courses offered by the Universities before finally submitting the application form. List of universities where ICCR students are currently studying is available at ICCR’s website www.iccr.gov.in. Applicants are required to submit a medical fitness certificate from the recognised hospital in the prescribed format available with the online application form. 

Completed applications need to be submitted latest by Saturday, 29 February 2020 through the A2A Scholarship portal but please make sure to contact the Embassy at least one month in advance. Short-listed candidates will have to undergo an English Proficiency Test, followed by an interview, details of which will be communicated to them in due course. For applications of Ph.D. course, the last date is 31 August 2020.

One ICCR scholarship is available for Slovenia.
