PRESS RELEASE

Fourth International Day of Yoga

The Embassy of India, in collaboration with Yoga Federation and Slovenian Yoga Union would be celebrating the 4th International Day of Yoga on Saturday, 16th June 2018 in Tivoli City Park, Pasja Raven, Ljubljana from 9.30 a.m.to 1.00 p.m.

The idea of International Day of Yoga was first proposed by Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly on 27th September 2014. He stated that "Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help us to deal with climate change. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day". On 11th December 2014, the 193-member United Nations General Assembly approved, with a record consensus of 177 co-sponsoring countries, Resolution 69/131 to establish 21st June as International Day of Yoga.

The Embassy requests all Yoga enthusiasts to join us at the Tivoli City Park, Pasja Raven, Ljubljana (in case of rain, the alternate venue would be SD Tabor) on Saturday, 16th June 2018 to make the 4th International Day of Yoga a great success.
